Year 8 STEM Students Inspired by Oxford Scientist
Our Year 8 students were thrilled to meet virtually with Dr Hayley Knights from the University of Oxford鈥檚 Department of Plant Sciences. She shared an inspiring presentation on her research, which sparked curiosity and ambition among the group. We are so proud of our links with top universities, ensuring students experience the highest aspirations first-hand.
Students asked excellent questions, including 鈥淲ill plants become the most common form of 鈥榤eat鈥 in the future?鈥, showing real interest in how science can shape the world of tomorrow. In their reflections, many said they were inspired by careers in science they hadn鈥檛 known existed before, with some even considering plant sciences as a future pathway.
This session links directly to our STEM Independent Study Project: 鈥淏iomimicry in Design 鈥 Nature as the Artist and Engineer鈥, where students will explore how nature influences human design and innovation giving them a taste of innovation in this sector.
